Martha Mathews, 88, of 710 E. College St., died Saturday in Ben Hur Nursing Home. Mrs. Mathews was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Born June 17, 1888, in Boone County, she was a daughter of William and Mary Ann McGuire Dowden, She married Harry Mathews who survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas of Indianapolis; three daughters, Marie Clahan of Indianapolis and Mabel Vice and Catherine Calvert of Lake Holiday; a sister, Catherine Hartzler of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A son is deceased. Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bernard Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry F. Ward officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. – jlr
